What Happens when we die?

 As a working medium I am often asked this question and obviously the answer is not a simple one, but I hope to give an as simplified  as possible overview of my belief system and what I aim to prove to be true by being a platform and working medium.

Basically its all about energy. Imagine there are 2 of you reading this, your essence within (your spirit or soul) which is eternal and your physical body ( your human) which has an exploration date. To explain the question “What happens when we die?”, we need to have an understanding first of energy and of what it is about us that is “living”.

Let us begin with the physical side first.

To exist in a physical realm and its laws of time running in linear, matter in its solid and gas/liquid forms, we need to have a body that conforms with the rules of the physical world on a cellular level. In this realm as in any other, energy does not end, it simply changes what it is. Therefore if you put a kettle of cold water on a flame, the energy from the flame transfers to the metal of the kettle and then into the water which heats up, boils, and then changes to steam. The steam rises as a gas until it transfers back to liquid and so on.

So, energy “transforms”, it doesn’t “dissipate”.  And in this realm,, everything is in a certain order so to speak, and that is how we know this life’s parameters, always with a boundary and in order according to the rules of Physics as we understand them so far. After all The Big Bang Theory, Dark Matter, Dark Energy and Gravity are still a matter of conjecture and speculation to a point. We know so much and yet so little.

Try for a few moments to imagine eternal time with no beginning or end or the universe being continuous or even millions of universes all existing with different physical laws.  It’s hard isn’t it? Because in this realm we only have the mental capacity to understand things within certain parameters. We know that all things are born/have a beginning and will eventually end, even the sun, it may take many millions of years but it will happen non the less.

So now moving onto the spirit energy within which is eternal. This is something we cannot generally understand with our heads so we need to move to that energy and intelligence within us and feel the answer. It becomes a knowing. Spiritual enlightenment etc. Even the best physicists struggle to explain in quantum terms, multiple dimensions and so on. In simple terms then, imagine in your true spirit form you are like a droplet of water within a vast sea in the spirit world, all connected, all one. You come to earth (for example) to live a physical existence (you are still a droplet only now you feel individual and not part of the sea) and the spirit energy resides within a physical body. You bring the information within your essence, past lives, lessons, knowledge of your eternal spirit home etc but your physical mind forgets it when you arrive here so that free will can truly run its course. (free will is a whole other blog).

Once your journey of learning is done here and your physical body releases your spirit energy, imagine that your droplet is returning to the sea. Only now you have even more intelligence after yet another life journey of learning. You take this intelligence back to the sea and it is all added to the main data bank. Only in this different realm, time does NOT run in linear but is all at once, like a big ball of NOW. All lives lived, yet to live, all the different outcomes from chance, decisions made all exist in one glorious and magnificent moment.  The sea is pure love and so at your core, you too are pure love.

There is a really great account of this in Anita Moorjani’s book “Dying To Be Me”. She had the most amazing near-death experience in which she recovers instantaneously from Stage 4 Lymphoma. Her story is truly amazing and the words she uses to explain this phenomenon are wonderful. I recommend you seek out her story. So how do Mediums prove any of the above to be true? As I said at the start of this blog, I am a platform and working Medium and aim to prove the continuation of the journey of the soul and its eternal existence in live demonstrations in Spiritualist Churches and Halls plus private or group sitting. I have been privileged to be a demonstrator since 2007 but I started developement in the early 1980’s.

When working I am able to shift my awareness/alter my vibration to connect with the spirit of loved ones passed to the spirit world. Its like going to a meeting place between the 2 worlds where we can connect. I work with them and request for them to give me specific details about their lives here either by showing me with  Clairvoyance, speaking to me with Clair-audience,  or letting me feel with Clair-sentience so that they can prove with evidence its them. Such statements as “I have your mum here and she says you have been down lately” should leave you running for the hills. Let’s face it, ANYONE can say that. But to give details like her name or family members names, birthdays, anniversaries’, death dates and times even. Passing conditions, favourite food, hobbies, pets, cars, shoe size, keepsakes, memories of happy family days or holidays or even the Fox’s Glacier Mint she was constantly sucking on. The list goes on of the detail that the spirit world are able to communicate to their loved ones Via a medium to say “Its me, I love you and I am still alive, I am OK”

They often give details of things the sitter did in the recent past or present to show they were with them and saw what they were doing, that they walk with us still and watch over us still is  very comforting.  Struggling to buy shoes for themselves or the kids. Had the wedding ring on because they miss he/him. Put their picture in a new frame or compiled a new photo collection to preserve their memories, Still have an item of clothing, the list is endless.

There are often tears during a connection because the loved one knows in their heart that this really IS their loved one who has come to give reassurance that we do not die, the journey continues, we are all together again one day in that great sea in the sky. That all is well.

This belief and subsequent evidence can be of great comfort to the grieving and also a really important life lesson to not waste a single moment. Every second counts and we should be mindful and present to ensure we make the most of our time here, remember, we all have an expiry date, we just don’t know when it is so don’t live this life as though you are here forever, you most certainly are not.

I know that the above possibly creates more questions than answers but I truly hope it has helped to shine a light on who and what we are and just as importantly, why we  come!.

We are Magnificent spiritual beings at our core. We are amazing  and we come with our unique gifts to and for the world. All we have to do is be ourselves and allow our lives to come to us. If you feel you have to chase after it, then you don’t truly believe its yours. That doesn’t mean don’t try and don’t work hard but take note when a door shuts that the universe is guiding you onto the right path to fulfill your life purpose and another door will open . Trust and allow.
